We are the only exclusive Law Firm Managed Cybersecurity Provider led by a 25 year Legal Cybersecurity and Technology veteran and a Compliance and Technology attorney. SpliceNet Legal Cybersecurity & Technology continues to have more Law Firm success stories and satisfied customers than anyone other in our regions.
Jim and Dave speak, write, blog and present in more legal communities than any of our competitors; including the American Bar Association (ABA), Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), various Inn of Courts, Cincinnati Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association, Golden Gate Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators, Cincinnati Association of Legal Administrators and Cincinnati Paralegals Association. We’ve also taught Legal Technology courses to Law School and Paralegal students and regularly give CLEs for both private and public Legal entities.
One of our proudest accomplishments is the creation and open distribution of the Law Firm Cybersecurity Due Diligence Toolkit to create a standard law firms can follow to evaluate and assess the Cybersecurity and Compliance preparedness of their firms. It has been downloaded by 100+ law firm leaders since its inception.
In the early 1990’s, SpliceNet started as a web development company that happened to build web sites for a number of law firms. As we worked with these firms to build their sites, they often asked us if we could help them with computers applications including Timeslips. Coincidentally we used Timeslips ourselves and we discovered it was the most widely used time and billing application for law firms in the US. We contact Timeslips owners at the time and asked to become resellers and ultimately, they made us a referral partner/consultants.
In 2005, after helping so many law firms with Timeslips we became consultants on a number of Law Firm Line of Business Applications (or LOBAs for short) in the areas of Practice Management, Accounting, Document Management and Document Automation applications including Amicus Attorney, Time Matters, Billing Matters, PCLaw, HotDocs and Clio.
The First Law Firm Managed Service Provider
As we helped firms adopt these LOBAs we found law firms we extraordinarily underserved with their technology management and support. LOBA projects were consistently delayed due to fundamental underlying server, network and desktop technologies that were often neglected by IT consultants or firm leadership and in dire needs of refreshing and updating. Since we’ve always been the type of people to see a need and fill it, we quickly became a leading Managed Service Provider exclusively serving Law Firms.
In 2011, we saw a growing trend of law firm cybersecurity infiltrations and soon decided to host several Cybersecurity Think Tanks with respected Law Firm leaders and found they had limited direction on protecting their firms outside of using common antivirus and firewall technologies thus began our formal Cybersecurity consulting era.
